Everybody in Pakistan is doubtless familiar with the name of Hamdard, which was established in Pakistan in 1948 by Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said. What everybody may possibly not be aware of is that Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said transformed Hamdard Laboratories, in 1953, into an Islamic Waqf, “Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf)”, so that its entire profits go towards funding charitable, educational and nation-building activities.

Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, was established by Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said in 1964, to administer and control the welfare works of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) separately and independently.

Hamdard Foundation Pakistan is involved in various charitable, welfare, cultural and educational activities, such as, aid to destitute and national institutions, free medical treatment and free of cost medicines to poor and needy patients through a network of Hamdard Free Mobile Dispensaries, Shura Hamdard and Naunehal Assembly, establishment of Bait al-Hikmah (largest and best equipped library in South Asia) Hamdard Public School, Hamdard Village School, (the school where 639 students are studying and no fee is charged from them, moreover free text books, bags, uniforms are supplied to them), Hamdard College of Science & Commerce, Hamdard University, awarding of scholarships to the needy and brilliant students and publications of journals and books on subsidized rates.

The core motto and philosophy of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan is service of humanity through medical, scientific, educational and cultural activities in furtherance of the legacy of ideas, values, mission and work of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said.
